Since its inception in 2005, Babboe has become the European market leader in cargo bikes. Since 2020, Redkiwi has been part of this impressive growth story. Within three months, we collaborated to build the e-commerce environment from scratch for five countries and completely redesigned the entire ordering process.

The result is a brand-new Magento2 e-commerce environment across five countries. The environment is fully integrated with Afas ERP, PIM Akeneo, Spotler, Feedback Company & Trusted Shops.

Lubricating the customer journey

Babboe approached Redkiwi to streamline the customer journey within the e-shop, making it easier for (potential) customers to place orders, regardless of the bike model. Instead of landing on a category page with all models and variations of cargo bikes, users are now directed from the different models. After selecting the model, they can choose a variant with optional accessories and select the desired service before proceeding to the optimized checkout process. The necessary entry points have also been created for customers searching for accessories, parts, or maintenance.

A cargobike for everyone

The goal of the customer journey revolution mentioned above was to increase the number of transactions and the order value. Further digitalization was required to execute this technically well. Motors, accessories, and delivery times are specific to each type, so perfect alignment between PIM, ERP, and e-commerce is crucial. So, what happens behind the scenes before someone can order that perfect cargo bike? The product assortment is managed through a PIM (Akeneo) that is connected to Magento. Additionally, there is a technical integration with an ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) that uses the order as input and forwards the price to the ERP system.
